Ecoalf

Ecoalf was named after Alfredo, the son of founder Javier Goyeneche. Javier realised his descendant is born in a world where our natural resources have been mined and used closed to depletion, leaving the world's climate and future unbalanced. Ecoalf aims to reverse the trend, and create fashion entirely made from recycled materials - a truly sustainable brand.

Our goal was to create an interior reflecting this aim. We would construct it out of recycled and upcycled materials, without losing the luxurious experience of a traditional fashion store. From a water-based mineral paint on the walls to using recycled fabric & wood for the clothing rack hanging from the ceilings, the aim was to incorporate subtle sustainability details throughout.

Old cargo ship beams were upcycled to create the nave of the store. By means of traditional craftsmanship and natural soap, the end result is a refined cupboard with detailed finishes, indistinguishable from new-wood alternatives. The cupboard is perfectly juxtaposed to the original flooring, creating a welcoming entrance to the back of the store.

The store is bathed in natural light, keeping the need for electrical lights to a minimum and maintaining a natural feel. A green garden was introduced to invite guests to the back of the store, where the collection continues and the linnen-curtained dressing rooms can be found.
