Overgaard & Dyrman have a strong passion for traditional craftsmanship and refined details. By merging traditional craft techniques with modern technology, they bridge the gap between the past and present.
The Wire Collection was created with 3-D computer design and executed using both modern machinery and traditional saddle making techniques. This allows them to preserve the fantastic crafts and skills and combine these with complex forms and manufacturing methods.
Overgaard & Dyrman are convinced that a piece of furniture should appear beautiful even when turned upside down or inside out. Only a product that is also beautiful in the making will end up as a complete and truly beautiful product – meaning that no detail is insignificant.
All welding is done by hand, and a special fixture makes it possible to hold each rod in its correct position during the welding process. The leather seating is mounted to the bearing structure with leather straps intertwined with the steel wires that shape the piece. “As saddle makers have a horse shaped mold to make the saddle from, we have made a similar mold for our saddles – except that our mold has the shape of a chair.”
